Honestly, he’s learning so fast right now that he does two or three new things every day. I mean he’s not sitting up yet or walking but I can see each stage of the skills he will eventually need to do those things developing each day.

Yesterday he blew a raspberry while on the changing table and I asked Wade “Was that a fart?” (Wade was changing him and I was laying down on the bed). He said no. I got all excited thinking that it was his first, but Wade informed me that he’s already done that a few times.

He’s “talking” more. Mom and Dad babysat last night while Wade and I went to see a movie (Sideways). After he woke up from his nap, they propped him up in the corner of the sofa, which he likes a lot. Mom swears that he was talking, she said his expressions were very evocative and that she thinks he was a little upset that we went out without him. Poor baby. We missed him too.

He’s so much fun. I think that this “attachment parenting” paradigm that we’ve adopted is perfect for Lucas. He’s very affectionate and loves to be around people. On Saturday we went to a dinner with some of our peers. There were three babies there including Lucas - all boys; actually four, but that one is not due until February. Lucas was right in the middle. One baby was six months old; the other was eight weeks old.

It’s funny how parents share information about their babies and ask after yours. When did he smile? How long has held his up? How much does he weigh? Each baby is different and wonderful, yet we kind of all held them up and looked for similarities and differences. It was funny because the eight week old baby had the most hair (also the softest hair I’ve ever felt).

His MobyWrap elicited a few comments and questions. The moms especially were interested in it. I highly recommend it because of how much Lucas like being snuggled up in it.
