Blogevity

In case you don’t check the stats, this blog has been around since 2001, (A Blog Oddity). I was spurred to think about our, erm, longevity, as I read this look at the state of the blogosphere. The bullets: Technorati tracks 19mm blogs; 70,000 new blogs created per day; the b’sphere has doubled five times in the last 3 years. Jeebus, I feel like an old-timer! So in honor of our 4-year and 2-month anniversary, a look back at an old entry:

He didn’t want to fail. he thought of his lone success in life - he hasn’t failed yet. what he had done to navigate the maze of life thus far wasn’t quite clear. stiil, his mask of self-confidence was ready to break. only his hefty salary & relatively constant flow of sex kept him afloat.

The perks of his profession were plentiful, yet bit by bit the monotony was growing more infinite than pi. in this big world, he had nowhere to go. while night became noon, the sweat on his nape reminded him of last week’s gal, last night’s ale…but still the chafe of his insecurity overcame the purr of his rommate’s cat in the morning. looking forward he could picture himself at the rio on the shore of the lower coast. not wanting to look like a loner, he had inviited his old friend, tray. his quest was being lived out like the first act of a rave: empty.

A raven cawed as he considered his many lives. yes, his jaw held the silt of trips to mexico city, san jose and lima, peru, but he was no rebel, no James Dean.
