she filled her hours with shopping and bottled water rarely stopping for the trees, the birds, the skies
low low low energy ebb. wade’s co-worker just returned from laos late last week and has given us some strange strain of cold as such that our hetero-normative and domestic sytems cannot deflect its virulence. joints ache, throats sore, nose congested and runny. sounds like fun, huh?
so here we sit slurping the latest incarnation of wonton soup. this one has the added benefits of a big chunk of ginger root, napa cabbage, loads of garlic & leek. ’tis very good. lucas loves the big chunks of tofu and has taken to fishing out pieces of cabbage from my bowl of soup while drinking the broth out of an altered sippy cup.
i have been feeling a little discombobulated (uh, just noticed ‘disco’ is inherent in that word like my character in ‘kol’). just this week we began the renovation of our 75 year old bathroom. wow. what a big job. fortunately wade’s papa is very good with the building and such. when we started getting estimates on redoing the bathroom they ranged from $250-500/sf — not including fixtures. exspensivo! so we should save some money going the diy route. in the meantime our commode and sink are set up temporarily in the…garage & we will soon be without a tub/shower. thank maude that ma and pa live so close to facilitate bathing! this will be a big adventure. hopefully at the end we’ll have a big, new bathroom that will not cause despair and/or water damage.
so yeah life here keeps on moving slowly but surely to the next day and the day after that. i hope this cold is short lived so that i may return to my former levels of high energy posting fun. whoo.
