Popozao – I voted for Britney Spears

Another voting day has come and gone — the polls closed at 8. I am too uninterested to see what’s winning since I have little faith in my fellow Californians (no, not you!). So much stuff on this ballot was utter crap.

The ballot here was heavy with a long list of judges for whom we either voted ‘yes’ or ‘no’. I was so bored that I stopped voting on them. Give me a sound bite ballot cos my attention span is durn short these days. Also what is up with us having to vote EVERY SINGLE YEAR on the proposition forcing fambly communication? Ya know, the one parental consent one that would make it ILLEAGAL for a girl under 18 to have an abortion. Every year I have to vote on that one and ’tis making me tired and cranky.

I am *SICK* of bond issues and in general vote against them on principle, since it doesn’t make sense to me to pay twice as much for something i.e. financing of the bonds than to just pay for it once. Just raise my taxes already so that I don’t have to line the pockets of some state-sized credit card company. But I did break down and vote for the clean water bond and the levy bond (ouch, holding to my convictions is hard unlike Mr. Munlick who sticks to his guns).

This year we received phone call after phone call with recorded voices. ‘Hello’, they would say in their stilted phrasing after a dramatic pause announcing their mechanical dependence, ‘this is so-and-so, urging you to vote…’. Then I would hang up. Every piece of political mail I received, I would toss immediately into the recycle bin. Since we don’t watch teevee I was even denied the pleasure of all the television ads. The only info I got on this election was via teh Internets. Very neat way of limiting the mental real estate all this curflufferry. Tomorrow we shall see if my cynicism was merited or not, but now we rest.
