turn off the future, turn off the past

So sad to have my brother leave today. After a quick breakfast, we hung out at Balboa Park for a half hour taking pictures and watching Lucas monkey around on the playground. Rick took off to the airport. And after a few quick stops, we came home so that Lucas could have his nap on time. Once we got home he went to sleep in a flash. Then Wade and I cuddled on the sofa reading. It was kind of cold so I grabbed a wool blanket and draped it over us. The air underneath the blanket got warmer and warmer. Slowly I was pulling it up to my mouth and over my head. I too fell asleep and Wade followed me to slumberland. We rarely get to take naps and we never get to take a nap together. It was delicious. The sun was coming in through the window and bouncing of the trinkets hanging in the room. The light quality was slightly glazed due to the autumn afternoon light. We slept with our legs entwined and although it was crowded, it was restful.

After our nap we were both a little slow, drifting from room to room taking care of small issues; bills, organizing papers, dishes, email, laundry. I was sitting at the computra and heard a few little foot steps behind me, catching a small movement out of the corner of my eye. I turned to find an agreeable Lucas, rubbing his eyes and ready for his after nap nurse. He slept for over 3 hours, catching up on some of the sleep he missed during the last exciting week. After a quick bath, we jumped in the car and motored off to run some errands.

Dixieline->Lunch->Target->Borders->home. Now we are readying ourselves for a full week of our regular schedule. Ho-hum.

[...] I had a brief, but most wonderful, conversation with my sister this morning, wherein I learned a little bit about the mischievous side of my wonderful nephew. On our call, my sister mentions to me that it must be harder for me to give up ms. teevee, being single and all. I know what she means. Teevee is a ‘companion’ of sorts. Xtina, having been in a long, happy marriage nearly a decade now (!) has – like most people with a LTR – a built-in social structure. Someone with whom to share the trivialities of life, or to argue, or pontificate, or just snuggle. [...]
