Mutant Radio, vol. 1

Recently, through series of events of unknown origin, I learned that a 2nd cousin is a fairly well known blogger. Or rather, I learned that this fairly prominent blogger is my second cousin. He has a unique, artistic but intellectual style of writing. Subsequently, after sharing this discovery, I then learned that beside his blog, he also has a personal site where he shares many of creative works. While perusing his site, I came across what he calls ‘Wrecking Boy Radio‘ … a few fairly old audio compositions. He made them before anybody had heard of the iPod, much less podcasting, a fact which in my view makes them even more unique. I suggest you go take a listen, they are very odd and very entertaining.

Listening to them inspired me to try to do some podcasting myself, and so here I have put together a brief ‘radio’ experiment of my own: Mutant Radio vol. 1. Check it out.

Wowser! I think that this all great. Cross-pollination from family member flower to family member flower es excellente.

For some reason tho this reminds me of the little tape recorder we had at Stonewood that we would use to ‘interview’ each other (some people even interviewed themselves, not naming names).

I think we should go through Dad’s collection of cassettes next time you’re here and see if we can locate some gems.

    Love it!

Joaquín, it is great to connect with you. Thank you for dropping by our site. I\’ll be adding your site to our blogroll as well. I actually had first encountered your blog months ago when you engaged Gleen Greenwald in a discussion about his carefree attitude about racist language in public discourse. Of course, I didn\’t realize at the time that we are family, but I did sense a familiar voice, one I recognize in the mores and worldviews of the Quintana side of my family, traits that I trace directly to \’Chente\’, mi abuelo.

Also, my mother Yolanda - who commented on your \’original\’ post that started this whole thing - met with Aunt Graciela this weekend, and they are both thrilled to have found each other - thanks to you!

Wow…that does my heart good to hear. I never knew what I was kicking into motionz when I made my blog. Life’s an amazing thing, eh? You lift one stone and put it down, and never know in what other ways you are arranging the world. Beauty.

Yeah! The Greenwald thing. Isn’t that something. Haha! Ah, yeah. My father also told me things about me reminding me of the quintana bloodline. My wife says that you can see the similarity in our eyes. From Aurelia to Chente and even in Alejo. This big mix, this hot soup of life!

Catch ya soon. We’ve all got to get together. I”m hoping to get down to califas soon, for now stuck in rainville. Lata!
